Three-Year Business Plan
Three-Year Business Plan Starting in FY2010
In November 2009, Daifuku announced a corporate management plan, entitled Material Handling and Beyond, for the three-year period starting April 2010. Based on this plan, we aim to achieve consolidated sales of 220 billion yen and consolidated operating income of 11 billion yen in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
Under the Jump Up for 2010, our business plan for the three-year period from April 2007 to March 2010, which sought to achieve sustainable growth and establish Daifuku as the world's top materials handling company, Daifuku Group had been united in its efforts to adopt the necessary measures and achieve management targets that included consolidated sales of 250 billion yen and an operating income rate equal to 10% of net sales. Regrettably, these targets became difficult to achieve given the rapid deterioration in business conditions after the 2008 global financial crisis. Based on this outlook, Daifuku decided to continue to pursue its targets under the next three-year business plan.
The future outlook, however, suggested that any economic recovery would be slow. Given the anticipated operating conditions, Daifuku positioned the following three years covered in the plan, Material Handling and Beyond, as a period during which the Group would establish the operating foundations that enable it to sustain growth into the future. Specifically, Daifuku adopted consolidated sales of 250 billion yen and an operating income rate equal to 10% of net sales as its management targets for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015, or five years hence.
The "Material Handling and Beyond" is a corporate slogan that communicates Daifuku's resolve in pursuing materials handling as its core operation. It also expresses Daifuku's intention to identify new fields that relate to materials handling operations and to "continue developing new products, markets and businesses for the future, correctly anticipating changes in operating conditions."
